Best Women Health Podcasts for 2021

If you're looking for the best health podcasts for women including wellness & fitness, this article has you covered. I could have probably listed more, but these 7 are my favorites.

Why Listen To Podcasts?

best wellness podcast for women

If youā€™ve never listened to podcasts, prepare yourself for a new obsession. Similar to talk radio, podcasts usually include a host or hosts and sometimes a guest, discussing all sorts of topics, from true crime to news.

The length of podcasts varies, some under 5 minutes and some up to an hour or more.

Podcasts are perfect to listen to during a road trip, on a plane, cooking, exercising at the gym, out for a hike or walk, or even working. I like being able to listen while I multi-task. They're also good to listen to while relaxing and right before falling asleep.

I remember several years ago hearing Zig Ziglar say, if you listen and learn in your car, then you are a member of “Automobile University”. I loved that idea and it has stuck with me all these years – I've earned a few diplomas by now!

When listening to podcasts, I usually have on my noise cancelling headphones because they're like magic to me. They shut out the world around you and you'll feel like you're in your own universe.

Boise is known for quality and these headphones do not disappoint.

Even on a plane, I don't hear the noise of the engine and it relaxes me to just be hearing the podcast or audible book I'm listening to and nothing else. These have resulted in a few good naps too….

My daughter and several friends prefer ear buds like these. They can listen while exercising without having something big across their head or even blow dry their hair and still listen.

One friend said this less expensive pair, despite some of the bad reviews, worked great for her. At the time I am writing this, they are less than $20.

Are Podcasts Free?

Yes! Isn't that great? Some podcasts have ads in them or are sponsored by a company, but you can listen totally for free.

How Do You Listen to Podcasts?

There a lot of different ways you can listen to podcasts. I usually listen on my phone using my podcast app from my apple device.

You could also just google, “podcast and the topic you are interested in”.

To see all the different apps available you can read more here.

You can find these podcasts wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts, or I have linked to each one for your convenience.

Be sure and subscribe to your favorite podcasts to receive notifications when new episodes are released.

Below are my top 7, in no particular order.

1. Neighbourhood Nutritionist

One of my new favorite Podcasts is Neighbourhood Nutritionist. The host, Janice is the founder of Not A Diet.

She is a weight loss, energy and nutrition coach who specializes in helping busy professionals become masters of their own health and lifestyle.

Janice and I agree on many philoshpies as far as clean eating and making healthy eating a lifestyle, not a diet.

She actually invited me to be a guest on her podcast and the episode is listed in this link. We talked about how to reduce inflammation through food choices and I really enjoyed being her guest.

I also gave her listeners a free anti-inflammatory low carb meal plan, including a grocery list and recipes you can download for free here!

2. The Hiking Lifestyle Podcast

If you want to learn all about exercising outside and getting in touch with nature, this new podcast, The Hiking Lifestyle, is your podcast.

Your Adventure Coach, Mallory, breaks down all things hiking gear, safety, tips, hiking hacks, hiking stories and gets you motivated to take it outside.

Mallory is a certified coach and has a degree in outdoor activities. She has experience on many trails and I trust her advice.

The Hiking Lifestyle is included in the Best Health Podcasts for Women list because we all need to get outside, enjoy nature and soak up some Vitamin D.

3. The Chalene Show

podcast for womens health

Chalene (pronounced SHU lene) Johnson is one of my favorite people! We have never met, but I feel like she's my best friend. She has years of experience in health and fitness and tells it like it is.

If you don't follow her on Instagram @chalenejohnson, you're missing out. Her stories are always funny and educational.

You never know what she's going to talk about on her podcast, but it will be informative, funny and inspiring. Her and her husband make such a cute couple!

The Chalene Show tagline is “Want to be happier, healthier and more organized?” I have learned about all these things and more from her.

Find the Chalene Show here.

Side note: I have her book The 131 Method and love her honesty about her health journey. She shares her heartfelt health scare after years of strict dieting.

The book not only tells her story, and her weight-loss philosophy, but includes some yummy recipes. You can find it here.

4. Intermittent Fasting Stories

We couldn't have a Best Health Podcasts for Women list without one about Intermittent Fasting. I was so excited when I found this podcast about a year ago.

The Intermittent Fasting Stories podcast with host Gin Stephens keeps me motivated to practice Intermittent Fasting (IF). Each week she has guests on that share their stories of how they lost weight or improved their health through IF.

Gin lost over 80 pounds, so “she's been there done that” and has kept the weight off. She gives her best tips to help you find success in fasting and weight loss.

Gin is the author of Delay, Don't Deny: Living an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle and Fast. Feast. Repeat. I have the latter book on Audible so I can listen when I need some inspiration.

Read about the benefits of IF here.

5. The Dr. Axe Show

Dr Josh Axe is the only male host that made the Best Health Podcasts for Women list. He always has wisdom to share when it comes to health. You can find his podcast here.

Dr Axe talks about nutrition, natural health, fitness and more and often has experts on as guests. His wife, Dr. Chelsea Axe is also an inspiration.

His laid back approach is refreshing and I always learn something when listening. I trust his advice due to his years of experience and knowledge.

His book, Keto Diet, gives a great basic understanding of a healthy clean Keto Diet. It also explains how the Keto diet can help you overcome chronic disease when done right.

Read about my Keto journey here.

6. Meditation Minis Podcast

The Meditation Minis Podcast gives you short guided mediations to calm your anxiety, overcome negative thinking, increase your confidence and more!

I don't know about you, but I can use ALL the above.

Most of her meditations are just 10 minutes and they really help calm me down. I like listening to one each night before bed to get me relaxed for a better night's sleep.

She also has some that cover healing, getting rid of negativity (hello 2020!) and melting away tension.

7. Move Your DNA

Move Your DNA Podcast is hosted by Katy Bowman, biomechanist and author. She details how movement affects not only the shape of our bodies but the shape of our life.

She has diverse guests on the show to keep you interested in all things movement. I think you'll enjoy this one.

Katy has one where her husband joins to ask questions from the listeners and I found it very informative.
