Best Beef Keto Chili

While following a Keto or gluten free way of eating, there's a way to still have good yummy beef chili and keep it low carb.  This simple grass fed beanless beef chili recipe is healthy, low carb, gluten free and delicious!

With some fresh peppers out of the garden, it was the perfect time to use them for this chili.  You may want to cut back a little on the cayenne and chili pepper if you like your chili milder, or kick it up a little by adding a habanero pepper.

Nothing fancy here, just simply Keto friendly chili, easy to make and doesn't take a long time.

Is Chili OK On Keto?

This question is asked a lot on Google and the answer is YES! As long as you have a low carb chili recipe like this one, you're all set. Make sure your chili has no beans!

I haven't found a good clean low carb can chili yet that I like.  Either they have clean ingredients and high carbs or low carb with compromised ingredients.  That's one reason it's best to make this simple homemade Keto chili, the other reason? It tastes better!

Best Beef Keto Chili

Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 pounds Grass-fed Beef
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, chopped
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, chopped
  • 1 Yellow Banana Pepper, chopped or any peppers of your choice
  • 1 large Yellow or Purple Onion, chopped
  • 3 tbsp Grass-fed butter
  • Black Pepper
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp Garlic Powder or garlic minced
  • 1.5 tsp Cumin
  • 2 tbsp Chili Powder
  • 6 oz Tomato Paste
  • 1/2 cup Chicken Broth
  • 30 oz Tomato Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Cayenne Pepper optional

Instructions
 

  • Sautee onions and peppers in butter over medium heat in a large skillet
  • After they are tender, remove from pan and set aside
  • Place ground beef in skillet
  • Add pepper, salt and garlic powder to ground beef
  • Brown over medium heat until done
  • Drain beef
  • In large saucepan, mix all ingredients together, adding more pepper and salt to taste
  • Stir well and bring to a boil over medium heat
  • Cover, and let simmer 20 - 25 minutes

What To Serve With This Easy Keto Chili

My favorite way to eat this low carb chili recipe is on a chaffle like in this Keto Chili Dog recipe.

The old me would have added gluten free crackers or Fritos and regular ketchup which are all high in carbs.

This time I made some almond flour cheese crackers I found here that are a pretty good substitute. You could also eat this with some pork rinds like these clean ingredient ones. 

These Spicy Quest Protein Chips are also good with this low carb chili recipe.

This low carb ketchup is a must for me too – I know, I know, that's the kid in me still loving my ketchup.

Can You Have Beans In Keto Chili?

One thing in traditional chili you need to omit to make it Keto friendly is beans. Beans are very high in carbs.

What Can I Substitute For Beans In Keto Chili?

Mushrooms are a good substitute also for beans. They are low carb and contain great vitamins.

Some people put peanuts in their Keto chili as a substitute for beans. That doesn't sound that great to me so I've never tried it, but you might want to give it a whirl and see if you like it.

You can also chop up some zucchini in it for a low carb option.

There are also recipes with soy beans, but soy has been linked to hormone disruptions, so you should avoid soy for a healthy diet.
