Instant Pot Versus Ninja Foodi

I loved the Instant Pot so much, I upgraded to the Ninja Foodi and it's absolutely wonderful!

I started off with the cheaper version to make sure it didn't end up on a shelf with the other appliances.

Since the Instant Pot was used so often and stayed out on the counter, the next step was to upgrade to the Ninja. The Ninja Foodie gives you 9 different ways to cook in one appliance!

The Ninja Foodi does ALL this:

  • Steamer
  • Pressure Cook
  • Air Fry (Air Crisp)
  • Slow Cook
  • Yogurt
  • Sear and Saute`
  • Broil
  • Bake/Roast
  • Dehydrate

Traditional  Vs. Modern Pressure Cookers

traditional pressure cooker vs modern

You may have a fear of pressure cookers and delayed getting one because you remember the old fashioned kind your mom or grandmother had.

Those things were like rockets wanting to take off from the stove! You may also remember horror stories of people getting burned.

Modern pressure cookers are very safe and have many built in safety features.

Tips For Using Your Pressure Cooker

healthy recipe tips

Below are a few things to keep in mind while pressure cooking:

  • The cooker will need to reach the steaming point, usually 5-10 minutes, depending on how much liquid is in the pot.
  • Set the appliance according to the recipe directions and allow it to reach the steam point and then the timer will start counting down.
    • When the time is up, you will either release the steam manually (called a quick release) or naturally depending on the recipe.
  • When releasing the steam manually, be very careful and use a towel or hot pad to open the valve.  Turn the pressure cooker away from cabinets so the steam doesn't affect the paint.
  • The locking lid will not let you remove it until all the steam is released, but to be extra careful, only unlock the lid after all the releasing noise has stopped.
  • Double check the seal and make sure it's in place correctly.

Easy Peel Boiled Eggs

These easy boiled eggs peel like butter after cooking them in the Instant Pot or Ninja Foodi. The steam seems to make the peel softer and easy to remove.

Boiled eggs are an excellent Keto Instant Pot / Ninja Foodi Recipe for a go to snack.

Simply place the eggs on the trivet rack that comes with the pot OR I love this egg rack I bought for around $8.

The rack lets you cook more eggs and they don't touch each other.

How to Prepare Easy Peel Boiled Eggs

  • Pour 1 cup of water over the eggs.
  • Set the pressure cooker on manual for 5 minutes and make sure the valve is set to “sealed”.
  • The cooker will take about 5 minutes to steam up and then will start the countdown on the timer.
  • After the timer goes off, let the steam release naturally for 5 minutes and then move the valve and let it “quick” release.
  • Using tongs, remove the eggs from the cooker and put into a bowl of ice water. This stops the cooking process so the eggs don't overcook.
  • Let them cool for 5 minutes.
  • You can now immediately peel them and they should peel very easily.  I was able to peel mine with one hand and they were farm fresh eggs that usually are hard to peel.

You can see how easy they are to peel in this

  1. This is so great. We have an Instapot and I’ve only cooked in it once and I’m a little scared of it and I love the tips you provided on how to properly use. I also want to try out the eggs. Whenever we boil eggs they are so hard to peel.

  3. So you don’t need to add water to the bottom of the instantpot? The radishes don’t burn to the bottom?

    • Hi Hillary. There is 1 cup chicken broth with the radishes and that works! Thanks for asking.
