Boost Immune System Quickly with Good Sleep

Make sure you're getting plenty of rest and sleep.  Staying up late to keep up with the latest news or social media posts isn't going to help you.

Sleep is how your body repairs itself.

To help you get better sleep:

  • Disconnect from blue screens (phones, TVS, etc.) each night 1 hour before bedtime

    • The blue screen confuses your body, making it think it is still daylight

    • You can also get some blue light glasses here that block out the harsh blue light and UV400 and help your body produce melatonin and sleep.

  • Cool the room down to 65-69 degrees

  • Try a weighted blanket, especially if you have restless legs or anxiety. We have this one and LOVE IT. 

  • Diffuse essential oils by the bed such as lavender or Young Living has some special blends for sleep

  • Finish eating your last meal at 7pm

  • Turn off lights and turn on just one lamp at 8pm

  • Go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each day

  • Exercise during the day

  • Listen to a podcast such as “Mindful in Minutes “Insomnia Relief Meditation” when you get into bed

  • Have a bed time ritual – skin care, hot epsom salt bath with oils, brush teeth, etc.

Hydrate For A Healthy Immunity

This is a biggie a lot of people are missing out on.  Drinking water helps keep you healthy and can aid in eliminating toxins and bacteria.  It also helps fight inflammation which can lead to illness.

You should be drinking AT LEAST half your weight in pounds in ounces of water. Example – if you weight 160 pounds, drink 80 ounces of water each day.

I drink more when I am trying to boost my system more, detox after a less than healthy meal or a long weekend.

PRO TIP: Put 3 rubber bands on your water band and remove one each time you empty the bottle until you have all 3 off – or more depending on the size of your bottle and how much water you need daily.

 

Move To Improve Your Immunity Naturally

Exercise is so important in keeping your blood flowing and reducing inflammation.  Both of these things are huge in keeping your body healthy.

If you go to the gym, wipe down weights and equipment before using them and wash your hands as soon as you are finished working out.

If the gym is not an option, walk outside, walk up and down the hall or around the living room.  You can also jog in place, jump rope or watch exercise videos online.

In my group membership we have added exercise videos to keep everyone motivated to move. We are also currently having a planking challenge to make it fun. We may be squatting next – send the Young Living Muscle Rub with CBD oil!

 

Diffuse Oils To Boosts Immune System

Keep a diffuser going – one in your office, one in the main room of the house and one by the bed.  There are so many options here and so many health benefits.

I love Young Living Oils because I totally trust their Seed to Seal guarantee.  The oils are pure and they come from plants without any fillers.  The plants are watched from the time the seed is planted until the oil is sealed up.

Some of my favorites to diffuse in the main room are Purification and Thieves. These 2 have great purification properties and clean the air.

By the bed, Stress Away or just plain lavender is a great choice and for the office, Joy or Abundance.

Wash Your Hands

Thought this was too funny – “In the year 2020, we expected to see flying cars but instead we are teaching people to wash their hands!”

You would think common sense would tell people they should wash their hands, but I have witnessed people leave the bathroom and not wash their hands too many times. Come on people, that's nasty!

In case you need a lesson in this – wash your hands with warm water and soap and for at least 20 – 30 seconds.  I sign the Happy Birthday song to myself 2 times and rub hard.

Make sure you clean your nails and thumbs really good. Those areas are missed sometimes.

Next rub them well with a paper towel and here's another tip -get a paper towel ready before you start washing your hands so you can use it to turn off the faucet. Those faucets have germs on them so why would you touch them after you have clean hands?

Use your towel to open all the doors you encounter after the bathroom.  Door knobs are covered in germs.

Keep Hand Sanitizer In Your Purse

I keep a big bottle of Young Living Thieves Hand Sanitizer and a small one in my purse at all times.  Hand washing is still the best choice, but hand sanitizer comes in second best.

Use hand sanitizer often while out in public, especially when shopping and touching shopping carts.

What I like about Young Living Hand Sanitizer is not only does it smell great, it doesn't contain harsh chemicals.  I also like to inhale it since it has peppermint in it that helps my mental state.

You can also make your own:

  • 1/3 cup 99% Isopropyl Alcohol or Witch Hazel
  • 2/3 cup Aloe Gel
  • 3 drops Cove Essential Oils
  • 3 drops Lemon Essential Oils
  • 3 drops Cinnamon Essential oils
  • Or 6-9 drops of Young Living Thieves Essential Oil instead of the single oils
  1. Mix first 2 ingredients together in a glass bowl.
  2. Next, add oils and mix well.
  3. Using a funnel, store in a used and clean hand sanitizer bottle or spray bottle.

Boost Immune System Quickly – Eat Healthy Food

Hippocrates had it right so many years ago, food can either be a natural medicine for your body or a slow acting poison, your choice.

Healthy food choices are still the absolute best way you can boost your immune system and fight off diseases.

It drives me crazy that during the current COVID 19 crisis, people are buying up all the junk food and leaving the organic and gluten free foods on the shelve.  OF ALL TIMES people should be concerned about eating healthy.

Some other things that are frustrating?

 

  • Heart attacks are still the number 1 killer in America and people are fighting over if Chick Fil A or Popeyes has the best chicken sandwich and KFC is putting fried chicken between 2 donuts!

 

  • Women complaining about feeling bad, yet they are posting pictures on social media of them eating chips, salsa and a margarita at least 1-2 times a week.

 

Wake up and realize the junk and processed foods are killing us!

As I write this we are in the middle of COVID 19 and an election year.  So much news and social media posts are blowing up everyone's feeds.  It's important to disconnect yourself from this some.  Your mental state cannot withstand the constant input of negative news.

Yes, we need to stay up to date, but to do this, you can check out the CDC's website here. 

Listening to all the opinions, political views, conspiracy theories and dooms day posts, will only add anxiety to your already taxed mindset.

Protect your mind like your life depends on it, because it literally could!

Yoga is an awesome way to reduce stress and this video will help you wind down and give your immune system a boost.

Indulge In A Sauna – A Healthy, Natural Solution

I am very fortunate to have an infrared sauna at my house. If you have access to a CLEAN sauna, I suggest 20 – 30 minutes at 130-140 degrees.

Sweating out toxins in a great way to eliminate germs. You can also inhale essential oils while in there. AHHH

Get Sunshine If Possible, For Vitamin D

Whenever possible, go outside for 20 minutes a day with as much exposed skin as the weather will allow.

Vitamin D only comes from sunshine and a few foods such as eggs and salmon.  You probably still need to supplement, but nothing beats the good ‘ole sunshine for Vitamin D. That's why it's called the “sunshine vitamin”.

Make Your Own Nose Salve

My mom and brother swore by Vicks Vapor Rub on their nose daily to keep germs out and keep them healthy.

Little hairs in your nose are filters and when inside a lot in the dry heat it's good to keep those hairs coated to help protect you more from germs.

Make your own:

  • 4 oz jar
  • 2 Tablespoons Coconut oil
  • 6-7 drops Egyptian Gold Oil Blend
    • (Frankincense, Balsam Canada (Idaho Balsam Fir), Lavender, Myrrh, Hyssop, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Rose Cinnamon Bark)
  • 6-7 drops Exodus II Oil Blend
    • (Olive oil, Myrrh, Cassia, Cinnamon Bark, Calamus, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Hyssop, Vetiver, Frankincense)
  • 6-7 drops eucalyptus

Mix all together in a bowl and store in glass jar in the fridge.

Wipe a little on your finger or cotton swab and wipe in your nose. No double dipping!

I also like putting this on the bottom of my feet at night and cover with socks. (you'll be surprised at how much better you feel in the morning after doing this!)

Make a Healthy Ginger Tea

You can find a recipe for my favorite Ginger Tea in my free recipe download here. It contains fresh ginger root, lemon, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and more to fight off germs and boost your immune system.

I also add Thieves and Lemon oil to it now – new since I created the recipe.

Any time I feel a scratchy throat coming on, I start drinking this tea and it usually goes away!

Clean Your Electronic Devices

Your phone, iPad, computer keyboard, etc. harbor germs. Make sure to give these a good wipe down often with a disinfectant cleaner. I spray some Young Living Thieves cleaner on a cloth and wipe away often.

Be sure and wash your hands before preparing food and watch out how many times you touch you phone while cooking.  We touch our phones so often now out of habit, we don't realize we are doing it.
