You may have the question – How many carbs are in salmon? There are actually 0 carbs in salmon and it's loaded with healthy fats and vitamins.
How Often Should I Eat Wild Caught Salmon?
You should really consume salmon 2 times a week for your heart and brain health.
The reason you want to have salmon 2 times a week is due to the benefits to your heart and brain.
Salmon is loaded with healthy omega-3 fatty acids that improve your brain health, reduce inflammation, and help improve heart health.
This low carb salmon recipe is a great way to get your salmon in 2 times a week. it is quick and easy to make and you can make enough for leftovers.

We don't produce fatty acids, so we must get them from food. The typical diet has way too many omega-6 fats and not enough omega-3's.

Salmon contains:
- Potassium (as much as a banana)
- Lean protein
- B Vitamins
- Selenium for thyroid and bone health
- Astaxanthin – the main reason I started eating salmon
Astaxanthin is pinkish in color (think flamingoes that eat a lot of shrimp) and is an antioxidant that studies have shown can actually break the brain bearer. This can be linked to lessening the chances of dementia, something we really need as we get older.
Astaxanthin has also been shown to help build up tolerance to UV rays and helps keep the skin soft and plump. I don't know about you but I can use all of this I can get!

Why Cook Salmon In The Air Fryer?
Since I need to have salmon 2 times a week, I had to find an easy and fast way to cook it – enter the air fryer.
I LOVE my air fryer because it uses less oils and allows for healthy cooking, but it's also a fast and easy way to prepare a meal.
This is my favorite stand alone air fryer, 2nd to my Ninja all in one.
I also love cooking bacon in it because there aren't grease splatters all over my stove after I'm finished. After the bacon is ready (in about 8 minutes) I use a paper towel to wipe out the grease in the bottom of the basket and throw it in the dishwasher.

Low Carb Salmon Recipe (Keto Air Fryer)
Ingredients
- 2 Wild Caught Salmon Fillets I prefer ButcherBox (see below)
- 2 tsp Avocado or Olive Oil Or Avocado spray
- 1 Lemon wedge Or some lemon juice
- 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp Cayenne pepper Optional
- Salt To taste
- Pepper To taste
- 1 tbsp Grass Fed Butter
Instructions
- Heat air fryer up for 3 minutes
- Sprinkle seasonings on salmon.
- Squeeze some lemon juice and place butter on top.
- Spay grid of air fryer with avocado oil or brush some on top.
- Place salmon into air fryer.
- Set air fryer on 390 degrees for 8 minutes
- When timer goes off, open air fryer and check for doneness with a fork. The salmon should flake easily.
- If it's not done, simply pop back in and set for another 1-2 minutes.
- Enjoy!
